M. Guntur Hamzah he is a justice in Indonesia Constitutional Court. He was born in Makassar, South Sulawesi, January 8, 1965. He is an Administrative and Constitutional Law Professor at the Faculty of Law, Hasanuddin University in Makassar, Indonesia with his current position as Senior Administrator (Pembina Utama) IVe. He earned his Bachelor of Laws degree from the Faculty of Law, Hasanuddin University, Makassar in 1998; and Master of Laws degree from the Faculty of Law, Padjajaran University, Bandung in 1995. He received his Doctor of Law Science degree from the Faculty of Law, Airlangga University, Surabaya, graduating cum laude in 2002.
Guntur Hamzah has conducted benchmarks on the management of postgraduate programs and closely observed the implementation of Student Center Learning (SCL) at the National University of Singapore, University Kebangsaan Malaysia and Chulalongkorn University in Thailand. In 2007, he was assigned by the Hasanuddin University Postgraduate Program for exploring academic collaboration with the Faculty of Law, Economics and Government, Utrecht University in the Netherlands. In 2009, he participated in a short course in the student-centered learning program at Maastricht University and Utrecht University, the Netherlands. In 2010-2011, he participated in the Academic Recharging Program (PAR-B) at the Faculty of Law, Economics and Government, Utrecht University, the Netherlands. Within Hasanuddin University, he had academic assignments and several important roles such as the Head of the Administrative Law Department, the Secretary of the Doctoral Program of Law Science, the Head of the Master of Law Program, and the Vice Dean I of the Faculty of Law, Hasanuddin University.
Moreover, Guntur Hamzah was assigned as a Legislative Drafter at the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR-RI) in 2003, a member of the Expert Team for the National Bureaucratic Reform Management Unit (UPRBN) in 2010, an Expert at the Directorate of Regional Development of the Ministry of Home Affairs in 2011-2012, a Reviewer of journals, textbooks and researches at the Directorate of Research and Community Service (DP2M), the Ministry of National Education from 2007 to 2015. Furthermore, he became the Head of the Center for Pancasila and Constitutional Education; and the Head of the Center for Research, Case Studies, and Management of Information and Communication Technology at the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia. Presently, he is the Secretary General of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia. M. Guntur Hamzah is also a productive writer. He wrote many books and articles published by national and international scientific journals. His two newest books are “The Law of Trade in Agricultural Products: Essence, Urgency, and Function” (2019), “The Modern Court: Implementation of ICT in the Constitutional Court” (2020), and "The Modern Bureaucracy: Essence, Theory and Practice (2021) all published by Rajawali Pers Publisher. Due to his outstanding contribution, he was granted several awards by the State, namely Satyalencana Karya Satya as a public servant for 10 years, 20 years and 30 years, as well as Bintang Jasa Naraya which was given directly by the President of the Republic of Indonesia at the State Palace on August 13, 2020. And the end of 2021, selected as top 10th of the best highest civil sevant in Indonesia, assessment from the Ministry of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform.***
